Susana Della Maddalena joined PetSmart Charities in July 2003 as Vice President and Executive Director.  She is responsible for ensuring the long-term growth and success of the organization’s fundraising and grant-making programs to achieve the PetSmart Charities vision of a lifelong, loving home for every pet.  Over the past four years she has successfully led the organization to nearly $20 million in contribution income.  

Before joining PetSmart Charities, she served as Vice President of Marketing for Northern Trust Bank of Arizona, N.A., where she developed and implemented various marketing and branding programs for the Arizona and Colorado divisions. Prior to that, she held senior positions with marketing and advertising agencies in Chicago, Los Angeles and Phoenix, where she consulted for clients such as Kellogg’s, SC Johnson, Safeway, Vons, and Kaufman and Broad Homebuilders.

Susana has spearheaded several multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns for nonprofit organizations – most recently as board president of Friends of Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and as founder & board president of The Wellness Community/Central Arizona.

She holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Iowa and a master of business administration from the American Graduate School of International Management. She is a pet parent to three adopted dogs – two mixed breeds, Meg (pictured above) and Finnegan, and Nigel, a rat terrier. In addition she has two horses named Cash and Orson and two ponies named Walter and Shelby.
