Each year 6-8 million pets enter shelters, and an estimated 3-4 million are euthanized -- simply because they do not have a loving home.

To help address pet overpopulation, PetSmart Charities, Inc., was established in 1994 as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to champion the cause of saving the lives of homeless pets. Since 1994, PetSmart Charities has become a leading funder of animal welfare agencies across North America, donating more than $52 million to animal welfare programs and helping to save the lives of more than 3 million pets through its support of 966 adoption centers inside PetSmart stores.
