Rock for Relief Concert Raises $12,000 for PetSmart Charities Emergency Relief Fund A fundraising concert held at Earthlink Live in Atlanta Georgia in October raised more than $12,000 to benefit PetSmart Charities’ Emergency Relief Fund. A contingent of bands including Sister Hazel, Cowboy Mouth, Gaelic Storm and Emerson Hart (from Tonic) normally hold an event for their fans called ‘Rock the Boat’ every October. The event is a three-day concert cruise. Due to the need for ships after Hurricane Katrina, the cruise was cancelled and the fundraising concert idea was born. The event brought in close to 1,200 people who enjoyed the music and artwork on display for the silent auction. Proceeds from the event were split 80 percent to Americares and 20 percent to PetSmart Charities. |
