PetSmart Charities Dispatches Emergency Relief Waggin’ Trailers to California Disaster Area Banfield Mobile Emergency Pet Hospital on Standby; Fundraising Efforts Underway PetSmart Charities dispatched two tractor trailers stocked with emergency pet supplies today to help the affected pets of the California wildfires. Each Emergency Relief Waggin’ trailer contains enough pet products, food and supplies to support up to 500 companion animals. One PetSmart Charities Emergency Relief Waggin’ was dispatched from PetSmart’s [Nasdaq: PETM] Phoenix distribution center, and one was dispatched from the company’s Ennis, Texas, distribution center, loaded with food, crates, beds, litter, tents, generators and other items required for the animal rescue effort. The deliveries are expected to be received by the city of San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium this evening and early tomorrow. Banfield, The Pet Hospital®, a PetSmart business partner, has readied its mobile emergency pet hospital to assist with pet medical emergencies. The mobile unit is on standby status while state emergency officials determine needs and logistics. The 32-foot-long hospital trailer is staffed by two veterinarians and three veterinary technicians and contains a surgical suite, treatment area and ten kennels. In addition, PetSmart Charities is raising funds to be distributed to organizations serving the areas most affected. Emergency relief funding will help fulfill urgent needs for food, crates, litter, beds, blankets, medical supplies and expenses, and vaccinations. The public can make a tax-deductible donation to help the pet victims of the California wildfires and future disasters in one of three ways:
PetSmart CharitiesPetSmart Charities provides immediate emergency relief funding and supplies to assist pets affected by hurricanes, earthquakes, fire and other natural disasters. PetSmart Charities also provides emergency relief for pet victims of man-made emergencies including pet hoarding situations and puppy mill rescues. Funds raised for the California wildfires will be used to aid pets affected by this disaster. Any donations above and beyond what is needed to provide relief for pet victims of the California wildfires will be deposited in the general disaster relief fund to be used for future disaster relief efforts. |
