My story

FOSTER CARE NEEDED. Hi Everyone! My name is Nila, I'm about 2 years old and I'm the goofiest, and best girl ever! Not only am I clearly the most gorgeous calico you've ever seen, but I'm also a sweetheart who enjoys the companionship of people and other kitties - as long as they're ones who are nice to me. I love lounging, taking cat naps, playing with toys, and chasing feather wands. While I don't mind other kitties, I would do best in a home on my own, or only with male kitties who are very friendly. I've had some bad experiences getting bullied by girl kitties in previous homes, and am more nervous around them. I have been off and on battling some ongoing respiratory issues for several months, and while I've been on various different antibiotics and medications, nothing really seems to work, so I do have continued congestion and discharge I am still dealing with. My doctor says that since I've been on medication for so long, I'm not really contagious, so I can enjoy the company of my foster siblings still. I do have a visit with a specialist coming up, and we're hoping that gives me some answers as to why I'm still nasally. If you'd like to foster (or adopt!) me, please fill out an application and my adoption counselor can chat with you a bit more in detail about my history to make sure we're a good fit for each other! Adoption fee: $75. Adopt a pair: $110. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and 30 days of free pet insurance. Adoption and Foster Care ApplicationComplete this form and a volunteer will contact you to answer questions and to schedule a meet-n-greet. UPCOMING EVENTS: Sunday, December 19, 2021: Shopping event at Vera Bradley, in the Twelve Oaks Mall, 27440 Novi Rd, Novi, MI 48377. Stop by the store between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and shop to support homeless pets. Donate $5 to Paws for Life at the event and you'll receive a special $20 off Vera Bradley coupon. Donate an additional $5 and choose a dog or cat holiday ornament for free. Saturday, January 8, 2022: Rochester Hills adoption event at Petco, 2675 S Rochester Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the second Saturday of every month (not all adoptable animals will be at every event). Saturday, January 22, 2022: Bloomfield Hills adoption event at PetPeople, 6520 Telegraph Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., come meet adoptable pets on the fourth Saturday of every month (as available - not all adoptable animals will be at every event). NO EVENT IN DECEMBER. NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of cats is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable cats, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each cat or kitten as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our cats based on personality, not by breed label. Adoption Process: Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nila, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
