One day in early October someone found a bulldog mix bouncing around the streets of a Chicago Suburb with an embedded collar and dragging an attached chain. She was picked up, brought to animal control to be held as stray and named Sally. One week, two weeks, three weeks passed and no owner stepped forward to claim her. And there Sally stayed for 6 months in her kennel. We first laid eyes on Sally on April and it was love at first sight. She is everything you love about a bulldog: bouncy, goofy, snorty, short, and adorable. While we didn't have a traditional foster home open, our doggy daycare foster stepped up to take her in! She was so nervous in the car that day she even refused chicken nuggets! While nervous at first, Sally quickly adjusted to doggy daycare life. We were so excited to get her settled, get her the vet care she desperately needed, and help her find her perfect forever home. Honestly, with as cute as she was, we were sure she wouldn't be with us for long! Two days after her rescue, our vet called with the first of bad news: Sally was heartworm positive. We immediately started treatment, one of our biggest supporters offered to sponsor her, and her fosters loved her through the 3 month treatment plan. As if heartworm treatment wasn't hard enough, she had a bad reaction to the treatment resulting in a serious infection. But even this, Sally overcame! Which brings us close to today in Sally's story. Sally has decided that doggy daycare is better than a 5 star resort and she does not understand that there are things calles "homes" which are even better! Sally is extremely nervous, scared, and unsure in a home, and it's quite possible she has never before lived in one before. She may not believe us yet, but we know she will love to snuggle on a couch one day. Sally can be initially nervous with some new people, especially men though she does warm up with treats and time. Sally loves to play with toys, but she isn't so sure you won't take them from her so she isn't ready to share them yet. And here is where we need your help to finish this story! Just some sentence starters to choose from: 1) A very nice family saw Sally's picture, fell in love and decided they were just the people to help her adjust to life in a home. They welcomed Sally as their foster fur child, and taught her everything she needed to know to thrive in a home! Then she was adopted and lived happily ever after! 2) A very nice family saw Sally's picture, fell in love and decided they were just the people to love her forever! They welcomed Sally as their foster to adopt fur child, and taught her everything she needed to know to thrive in a home! And she lived happily ever after. What do you think? Is this you? Can you share her story with friends and family to help us finish her story? Please message or email us for more information! We want to talk to you!
