Name, age, breed: Reina, 7 years, Siberian HuskyLikes: Playing, treats Dislikes: Unknown What would be the ideal home? Reina needs an adult only home that will be patient and willing to work through her nervousness. A home that will work with Reina`s resource guarding tendencies and give her lots of exercise Good with other cats? No small critters Good with dogs? Possibly, if same size/activity level Good with children? NoTemperament: Sweet, a little nervous Motivators? Toys, treats Any commands? Sit, down, paw, speak, spin, heel with a toy House trained? Unknown Crate trained? Unknown How long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? She does have a history of guarding her food. So she needs a home where the owners know how to properly house a dog that has resource guarding If you think Reina is the one for you - fill out an application today!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Reina, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
