Do you have a giving spirit? Then check out our sassy Spirit!Spirit came to us from another shelter and spent some time in foster care learning proper manners and getting acquainted with people. Now, Spirit is ready to find her fur-ever home with that special someone.ABOUT SPIRIT- At shelter- Spirit loves to play at night, taking advantage of her alone time and coming out of her cubby to explore- During the day, she is generally found curled up and cozy with her best buddy, Julius. - Spirit is a gentle girl who is slowly coming out of her shell and letting her true nature shine through.- While she is shy around people, she has made considerable progress in recent weeks. Volunteers find her more relaxed and receptive to pets by hand, actually looking a little wistful when the attention stops! - Spirit purrs up a storm when being pet by people she trusts and clearly enjoys the affection, even relaxing into full-body pets. - Sometimes she likes to peer out the front of her kennel, but she’ll disappear again if she’s approached too quickly! Our volunteers have been encouraging her to explore her space more by enticing her with wand toys.- Spirit is a skittish cat. Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways.- She has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species.- Spirit is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and has received core vaccinations.SPIRIT`S IDEAL HOME- Spirit enjoys the company of other cats, which helps her gain confidence, and she would do best with a FIV+ feline friend.- She would benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children or dogs.- Spirit does not require medication for FIV but vet checkups twice a year are recommended.- Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for with a good diet, an indoor home, and a loving family.- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Spirit settle into her new environment.
