Freeway

My story

Freeway is a gentle, reserved soul who came to the shelter as a stray and is suspected to have been hit by a car. HE is looking for a rescue partner who can provide a full work up along with the comfort he deserves. Though initially cautious in our care, he does allow handling and shows his sweet side with a few tail wags and soft toe taps once he feels more at ease. With a patient, understanding friend, we're sure he'll continue to build confidence and reveal more of his personality. He's ready for someone special to give him the time and support he needs. Easy to handle and great on a leash. Freeway is currently blue but I think could be re-evaluated to gold. BEHAVIOR EVALUATION 10/30: "KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Freeway was sitting in his crate with neutral eyes and body. When he saw the handler he stood up with some wags but then sat back down. He did a lot of lip licking and was nervous of being leashed, but allowed the handler to lasso him with the leash without issue. LEASH SKILLS: Pulled minimally HANDLING: In the room Freeway was very calm. He was mild mannered in the room and did not show much personality, just walking around and sniffing. He had no interest in treats and remained neutral throughout our time together. He allowed handling and was tolerant, remaining neutral but at times would lip lick or stress yawn and move away indicating he was uncomfortable at times. As time went on he got a bit more comfortable and leaned in for butt scratches and even started doing some toe taps. PLAY No interest TOYS: Interest but no possession" On 10/29, finder noted that he is "friendly, shy, and scared overall and around animals, strangers, and children. He may've been hit by a car."
