My story

Buddah is a quirky, affectionate, and enthusiastic boy with a heart full of love. Buddah recently found his way back to the shelter after his previous adopter was no longer able to care for him, but you’d never know it by his spirit! This happy-go-lucky pup is always up for a walk, a game of fetch, or a good snuggle. His former owner described him as, gentle, and a great companion, someone who stands by your side through thick and thin. Buddah is a superstar on a leash and a total joy to be with. He surprised us with his enthusiasm for a nice run, keeping a little skip in his step the whole time. After a short break in the grass, filled with gentle pets, treats, and a few affectionate smooches… Buddah was ready for whatever came next. He’s eager to learn and please, affectionate, adaptable, and a wonderful friend who brings happiness wherever he goes. Buddah is looking for someone who can appreciate his big heart, his loving nature, and his ability to make every day a little bit better. Could you be his new best friend? Meet Buddah at Acct Philly any day of the week from 10 am to 6 pm VIDEOS BEHAVIOR 06/13/2025 volunteer notes: Buddah looked so sad in his kennel & really wanted to get out :) he was easy to leash & headed right outside w me w a little skip in his step. Once outside we wandered around for a little and then headed to the cemetery for a run to burn off a little steam. I wasn’t sure what his run style would be like and he surprised me! Buddah was happy to run and kept that skip in his step the whole time. About a mile in we took a break in the grass and he allowed pets all over, took treats gently, and even gave me a few smooches to say thank you! An all around total joy to run and be with! 06/12/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Steerable, good greetings, curious, bouncy, playful PREVIOUS SHELTER STAY NOTES & VIDEOS Video: Buddah and Zilla: https://youtu.be/xqlUy3CC4YQ Buddah and Gina fence meet: https://youtube.com/shorts/F0Ritzw81-w?feature=share Buddah does sit https://youtube.com/shorts/4wXza76sq4w?feature=shared Buddah plays fetch: https://youtube.com/shorts/oata9Hm6E1w?feature=shared Behavior notes: Per Staff 1/11/25: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Owner surrender - homelessness KENNEL PRESENTATION: Buddha was laying in kennel when I approached. He had surgery earlier in the day, so his bed was removed. He came up with neutral eyes and a low tail when I called him. He sniffed me curiously and allowed me to leash him easily. He came right out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING : Buddha was a little nervous, but was very sweet with us. He took treats very gently and showed me his handsome “sit”. He allowed all handling and even jumped in my lap when I tapped my lap. He’s a little stressed, and paced the room whining very lightly. He just seemed confused as to why he’s here. He showed interest in squeaky toys and enjoyed playing fetch with a ball. Buddha allowed all handling and just wanted to hang out and get attention and treats. He’s a very sweet, sensitive boy! PLAY: Engages in play, very gentle! TOYS: Interest in squeaky toys, likes to play fetch with balls COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Gold 01/10/2025 volunteer notes: When I arrived at Buddah’s kennel he was at the front looking for attention. I leashed Buddah and we went outside. He pulls pretty strongly on leash but can be redirected with a whistle or kiss. Buddah is a photogenic dude and knows sit! Buddah and I went in the play yard together. He did a lot of sniffing. He seemed very interested in other dogs, jumping on the fence and barking when they went by. He did take possession of one toy and played with it. Buddah and I returned inside and he needed a little lift into the kennel. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
