“Joni” Mitchell Joni is the smallest of the litter and the most tender. She started off so skittish—it took her longer than the other kittens to come out of hiding. But now, she melts when you pick her up. She’ll purr when she sees you, roll over to show you her belly, and let you scoop her up like a sleepy baby. She loves to spend time on windowsills, and her favorite napping spot is your lap or your shoulders. Her favorite toy is a motion-activated teaser toy, and she is absolutely fascinated by modern plumbing and LED indicator lights. Joni is a beautiful cat—she has a delicate pink nose surrounded by white fur that distinctly transitions from orange-tabby to black calico. Everyone who meets Joni comments on her beautiful markings and sweet, gentle demeanor. We really want to let interested adopters know that Joni might take a few weeks to adjust to her new home, but she will inevitably trust any gentle soul who can meet her where she is. Though initially shy, Joni is deeply, deeply affectionate. And there is something so uniquely sweet about Joni. She is the kind of cat that imprints on your heart. You’ll feel it if she chooses you. Joni would thrive in a quiet, calm home—maybe with a senior, quiet couple, or someone who enjoys a peaceful rhythm. We think she would do well with other pets so long as they are gentle and likely to respect her boundaries. Note from the foster family We decided to foster after losing our beloved cat Bowie. Bowie was a charismatic, quirky and highly affectionate Siamese mix. After 13 years of love and unforgettable companionship, we suddenly and tragically lost him to kidney failure. His absence was profound and painful, especially to our senior dog Rosko, who was desperately missing his best companion of 10 years. We were surrounded by his toys, blankets, cat trees, and all the treats he would never get to enjoy. It felt like his things still held a piece of him. We didn’t want to let them go, but we weren’t ready to move on. So instead of closing this chapter, we opened our hearts to something new. These four babies—Elton, Mitski, Joni and Liza—came to us when we were still grieving. At first, they were skittish, avoidant and clearly unfamiliar with humans. But with careful socialization, patience, treats, love, and lots of play time, they began to bloom. Watching them play with Bowie’s toys, climb his tree, and tumble through their little milestones has brought so much light and laughter back into our lives. Earning their trust, loving them fully, and watching them thrive has helped us heal. And now it’s time to find them their own soft places to land. These kittens are so special and will unquestionably bring so much joy and laughter into your home. Each of them carries a little piece of our heart—and a little piece of Bowie’s too. Joni was born around April 15, 2025, and is currently being fostered in Farmington. Once she is fixed, up-to-date on shots, and has tested negative for FIV/FeLV at the end of July, she will be ready for adoption. All of our cats and kittens are cared for in loving foster homes. "Meet and Greets" can be arranged only after an application has been submitted and approved. Applications for adoption can be found at our website at www.fosterandforever.org. Our volunteers do their best to respond within 24-48 hours.July 7, 2025, 9:59 pm
