My story

Meet Bubba! This super friendly “young senior” is 11 years old going on 2 and still has a lot of life left in him. His owners called their vet to have him euthanized because he became too much to care for and was having accidents, especially when left alone, “out of spite” (aka anxiety). Luckily the vet wouldn’t kill such a happy healthy vibrant dog and he ended up with us. Bubba is a 15lbs Shih Tzu who has a great temperament and is a social butterfly, and really is too young and friendly for us 😜. He gets along with other dogs and has been around dogs of all sizes, loves walks and is in great health other than chronic dry eye that needs prescription eye drops for life (he’s very cooperative for them!). He’s definitely a bit of an anxious guy who prefers someone home a lot, hates fireworks and thunderstorms, and likes to be included as part of the family on outings when possible. He is mostly housebroken and will let you know when he has to go out, and does well with a belly band in the house to prevent accidents in between. He’s a really nice little companion for someone looking for a happy friendly dog and we hope will bring many years of joy to his new family. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
