My story

QUICK FACTS Name: Bokdol Age: 9 Years Old Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Jindo-Retriever mix Color: Brown Weight: 22kg / 48.5lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I once had a family. When they had to move and could no longer care for me, they tried to sell me at a dog market. Kind rescuers stepped in just in time and saved me from an uncertain fate. At first, I was very frightened and closed myself off from the world. But with patience, safety, and love, I slowly began to open my heart. Today, I’ve blossomed into a gentle, social boy who truly enjoys human attention.   MY HEALTH Neutered & healthy with no known health issues All vaccinations up-to-date     MY PERSONALITY I’m a truly sweet boy who deserves nothing but the very best. I already know basic commands like “sit” and “wait,” and I’m a quiet, gentle, and well-behaved companion. I have a calm presence and an even kinder heart. Everyone who meets me says the same thing — I’m even more beautiful in person. Photos and videos simply don’t capture my soft expressions and sweet soul the way real life does.       MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: When I first arrived at the care facility, I was very shut down — which makes sense, as my entire world had suddenly changed. With time, patience, and kindness, I slowly began to open up and reveal my true, sweet personality. Now, I enjoy greeting new people and love receiving gentle affection and pets. I have a soft spot for kids, and once I feel safe and comfortable, I’ll happily roll over and show my belly as a sign of trust. I’m a social pup who enjoys human company, but I can be sensitive to sudden or unexpected touches, especially from strangers. Gentle, slow approaches help me feel safe and confident. I’m also a bit sensitive when my stomach and paws are handled, so I’ll need time to build a strong bond before being picked up or handled in those areas. With patience and understanding, I truly blossom into a loving and loyal companion.   · With Dogs: I get along well with the dogs at the care facility and politely greet new canine friends when I meet them. That said, I’m more of an independent soul — I’m happiest doing my own thing, often choosing a cozy corner where I can relax and nap peacefully. High-energy dogs can feel a bit overwhelming for me, so I do best with calm, mellow companions who respect my space and share my easygoing nature.   · With Cats: My full reaction to cats is still unknown, but a cat test can be arranged upon request to help ensure the best match. During walks, I tend to be indifferent toward cats and stay focused on my handler rather than getting distracted.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate to higher energy level and enjoy having time to explore and take in the world around me before settling down comfortably indoors. Once I’ve had activity time, I relax nicely and enjoy calm time at home. I may be a little older on paper, but I look and feel young, active, and full of life — proof that age is truly just a number!   TRAINING & HABITS I walk nicely on leash and do a great job following my handler’s lead. When staff or volunteers bring out my harness, I happily put my face right in — it’s as adorable as it sounds! When I hear “Walk time!” I know an adventure is coming, and I truly enjoy being outside and exploring on my walks. I’m generally a very quiet pup, though I may bark now and then when I’m hoping for a little extra attention. I know how to rest calmly in my kennel and settle in well. In new environments, I may mark at first, but with time and routine, I adjust. I can potty both indoors (using a pad) and outdoors, and with a consistent walk schedule, I’ll naturally prefer doing my business outside. When it comes to mealtime, I can feel a bit sensitive about my food bowl around people or other dogs, so I’ll benefit from continued management and positive training to help me feel safe and relaxed, and to learn that I don’t need to protect my food.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m looking for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: A family that offers a safe, structured, and calm environment. A family that enjoys spending quality time together indoors & outdoors. A family that can shower me with love and attention. Ideally the only dog at home or a home with another calm dog sibling.  A family that understands I can be a bit sensitive with my food bowl during meal times. I will need continued management and positive training to help me feel safe and relaxed.   SPECIAL NOTES I’m a gentle, thoughtful boy with a sensitive heart, and I truly blossom with patience and consistency. I’m considered a Level 2 rescue dog, which means I’ll need at least a few days to about a week to adjust to my new environment. For my safety during this transition, it’s important that I’m double-leashed with both a harness and collar at first, so I don’t accidentally slip out while I’m getting used to my surroundings. With a family who understands me and is willing to build trust at my pace, I’ll grow into a deeply loyal and loving companion. I have so much potential just waiting to shine.   Bokdol's YouTube Playlist   Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.com ##2614472##
