Mishka is a sweet, intelligent, and incredibly lovable girl who has blossomed so much as she has settled into foster care. Once she feels safe with someone, she is a total love bug who loves cuddles, belly rubs, and being close to her people. She has a wonderfully goofy side, too, with backyard zoomies that involve running, hopping, and the occasional barrel roll. Mishka is medium-high energy and loves getting out for multiple walks, exploring the neighbourhood, and playing in the backyard. She can also be surprisingly chill and is happy to settle while her people work.Mishka is a smart girl who is eager to learn and has already made great progress with her training. She is house trained, loves her crate, and can comfortably be left home alone for a full workday. She knows sit and wait and is working on down and impulse control during play. She is doing especially well on leash and is a wonderful loose-leash walker in her neighbourhood, staying engaged with her person and enjoying plenty of time to sniff and explore. She is generally calm and neutral when passing other dogs and has shown very little interest in small animals. She may do well living with another dog around her size or larger, provided they have a compatible energy level and appropriate introductions.Mishka is still learning about the world and needs a little time to feel comfortable with new people and situations. She is particularly nervous around men and can be wary if someone approaches her directly or enters her space too quickly, but she has made huge progress with the men in her foster home and is increasingly choosing to interact with them on her own. She can also be cautious in unfamiliar environments or when she feels confined, so a patient adopter who allows her to explore at her own pace will be important. A quieter neighbourhood would be ideal, although she has spent time downtown and could potentially adapt to a busier environment with time. Mishka is such a special girl—loyal, affectionate, clever, and just the right amount of goofy—and watching her confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding.
