✨ Meet Nova ✨ Some dogs show you what resilience looks like. Nova lives it. 🩷🐾 This beautiful brindle girl was a stray at a Detroit firehouse for several months. She was smart, cautious, and incredibly good at keeping her distance. No matter how hard people tried, Nova wouldn’t let anyone get close. Until one day, the firefighters noticed something was very wrong. Nova was limping horribly. 💔 It was eventually discovered that this sweet girl had been hit by a car. Somehow, she had been surviving on the streets all alone — navigating the world with a shattered front leg and an unimaginable amount of pain. We conditioned her to a live trap, and when the moment finally came, Nova walked right in. We wish we could say that was the end of the hard part. It wasn’t. Nova ultimately needed to have her front leg amputated to relieve the pain caused by the damage. She also has arthritis in her hips as a result of the accident. And yet… somehow, through all of it, Nova remained sweet. 🥹 Today, this tripod girl is learning that life doesn’t have to be about survival anymore. Nova is shy when she first meets new people, but give her some treats, a little baby talk, and some time — and she starts to let you in. Having other dogs around makes her feel especially brave, which is why Nova needs a home with other dogs. 🐶❤️ She is: 🐾 50–55 lbs 🐾 Dog friendly 🐾 Cat friendly 🐾 Crate trained 🐾 Potty trained 🐾 A total sleeper — especially if she can sleep upside down on her back 😂 🐾 Shy at first, but incredibly sweet once she feels safe 🐾 A certified soft-eyed beauty with the gentlest soul Nova isn't looking for a loud, busy life filled with strangers coming and going. She's looking for quiet. She's looking for patience. She's looking for canine friends who can help show her the world isn't so scary. And although we said quieter home we don't mean that with other dogs- she is the life of the canine party and the zoomie queen! She loves to play, wrestle, and be silly with other dogs! She's looking for someone who will let her take things at her own pace. Because after everything this girl has survived, she deserves a home where she never has to be in survival mode again. 🥹❤️ Nova may have lost a leg… But she never lost her ability to love.
