My story

EET PIPPA — PERFECT EARS, PUPPY ENERGY & A HEART THAT JUST NEEDS A MINUTE FROM LAS VEGAS TO A WHOLE NEW LIFE Hi, I’m Pippa! I’m only about one year old, and I’m a French Bulldog/English Bulldog mix who came to Freedom Frenchie Rescue from the Las Vegas animal shelter. When I arrived, I was super skinny—you could see almost every rib on my little body—and I had missing fur and an injured foot that had developed an infection. My foot was wrapped, I started antibiotics, and within just a few weeks it has almost completely healed. My fur is looking great, I've gained some much-needed weight, and with another couple of pounds, everyone thinks I'm going to be absolutely perfect. GIVE ME A MINUTE BEFORE YOU DECIDE WHO I AM When you first meet me, I can come across a little testy or guarded because I'm still figuring out new people and situations. I've only been in rescue for about three weeks, and that's not very long when you're a one-year-old dog whose entire life has suddenly changed. Give me time to watch you, learn you, and understand that I'm safe, and you'll meet a completely different girl. Once I know you and trust the people around me, I'm incredibly sweet, affectionate, and happy to be part of everything. I’M STILL JUST A PUPPY I'm only one, so underneath that cautious first impression is a young girl who wants to have FUN. I love running around, exploring the backyard, checking out everything I can find, and going on walks with my foster mom. My leash skills aren't exactly award-winning yet, but I'm learning. There is so much of the world I haven't experienced, and I need a family that understands I'm still a puppy who needs guidance, structure, and opportunities to learn instead of expecting me to arrive knowing everything. “GO HOME,” AND I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN My crate is actually one of my favorite places because it's my safe space. Tell me to “go home,” and I'll head right in. I'm perfectly content lying in there with the door open, relaxing and watching what's happening around me. I had a few pee accidents in my crate during my first week, but since then I've done incredibly well and don't normally have accidents in there. If I'm crated and need to go outside, I'll even bark to let you know, so please listen because I'm trying to communicate with you. I ALREADY KNOW THE DOGGY DOOR I've also figured out the doggy door, which is pretty impressive considering how recently my entire life changed. I'm learning the household routine quickly and doing a great job figuring out where I'm supposed to go. I'm not a dog who jumps all over people either, so while I definitely have puppy energy, it doesn't mean I'm launching myself at every human who walks through the door. OTHER DOGS ARE COOL, I’M JUST FIGURING THEM OUT I like being around other dogs, but I'm still learning how I fit into the group. I haven't really started wrestling and playing with everyone yet because right now I'm more interested in observing and getting comfortable. Occasionally, if I'm relaxing in my crate and another dog gets too close, I may react and let them know they're invading my space. I can also display some dominant behavior, but I'm very easily redirected and I haven't been going after or biting the other dogs. I simply need humans who will continue giving me structure and helping me make good choices. SMALLER CAST, PLEASE Because I'm still decompressing and learning how to interact appropriately, Freedom Frenchie Rescue would prefer a calmer home with only one or two other dogs rather than dropping me into a huge, chaotic pack. We're currently unsure about cats, so we aren't going to pretend we know how I'd feel about one. Children in my future home need to be 13 or older, giving me the calmer environment and personal space that will help me continue building confidence. BONES, TOYS & THE SWEETEST LITTLE MOUTH I love chewing on bones and playing with toys, and sometimes I'll even suckle on my toys, which is ridiculously cute considering I occasionally like to pretend I'm such a tough little bulldog. The funniest part is how gently I take treats. For a girl who came into rescue skinny enough that you could see her ribs, I don't snatch food from your hand or act like I'm competing for the last snack on Earth. I take my treats ever so gently, and yes, you will probably immediately want to give me another one. SPAY DAY WAS NOT MY FAVORITE DAY I was recently spayed, and I'm going to be very clear that I did not enjoy the recovery portion of that experience. I've been sleeping a lot and taking things easy while my body heals because apparently major surgery isn't something you're supposed to bounce right back from the next morning. My rescue is letting me rest and recover at my own pace, and once I'm feeling completely like myself again, I'm sure that puppy energy will be right back where I left it. EXCUSE ME, HAVE YOU SEEN MY EARS? We really need to discuss the most obvious feature on my entire body: HAVE YOU SEEN THESE EARS?! Freedom Frenchie Rescue has seen a whole lot of bulldog ears, and apparently mine are some of the most perfect ears to ever come through this rescue—right up there with Yogurt. They're enormous, they're magnificent, and I'm fairly certain they deserve their own adoption application. Whether they actually improve my listening skills remains to be seen, but aesthetically, they're a solid 10 out of 10. I’VE CHANGED A LOT IN ONLY THREE WEEKS Think about everything that's happened in such a short amount of time. I left a shelter, traveled into rescue, started treatment for an infected foot, began gaining weight, watched my fur start growing back, learned a new house, figured out a doggy door, learned that my crate is safe, met new humans and dogs, and then got spayed. That's a LOT for a one-year-old girl to process in just a few weeks, and I'm already showing everyone how much potential is hiding underneath that initial guarded exterior. DON’T MISS OUT ON THE GIRL I’M BECOMING I'm not looking for someone who expects me to walk through their door and instantly understand my entire new life. I'm looking for someone calm and consistent who will let me settle in, continue teaching me, respect my safe space, and understand that trust is what brings out the very best version of Pippa. Give me that, and you're getting a sweet, funny, curious little bulldog who loves her bones, toys, backyard adventures, walks, dog friends, gentle treats, and the people she learns are hers. SERIOUSLY, DON’T LET SOMEONE ELSE GET THESE EARS I'm only one year old, and I've already made incredible progress in three short weeks. I'm healthier, gaining weight, healing beautifully, learning quickly, and becoming sweeter and more comfortable every day. There is so much life ahead of me and so much personality still waiting to come out. Anyone scrolling past this girl without applying might want to take another look, because underneath those absolutely ridiculous ears is one very special little bulldog—and somebody is going to be incredibly lucky to call me theirs. Pippa is spay, vaccinated and microchipped her adoption donation fee is $1150.00 and you can apply for her on our website freedomfrenchierescue.org. She is currently being fostered in Mesa, AZ.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pippa, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
