Let me begin by saying that we love Pink. She is a loyal, playful, loving and protective friend that we have had the honor of caring for over the last several years. She does have her quirks. She is deaf. It's not total deafness, she hears the loud end of a healthy sneeze, but for the most part she is oblivious to sound. I have said before, the real definition of insanity is telling a deaf dog all the things I think she needs to know. We have floor to ceiling windows and choose to raise the blinds so that she can see out, we believe it's a deaf thing that she needs to be able to see her complete surroundings. She walks well on a leash yet she is easily spooked by motion around her. One of her gifts is an incredible peripheral vision. She will readily get in the car for a ride, we have had to be cautious that she would get into the car and our not notice. Once she knows we are not headed to the Vet, she settles down and is content to watch the scenery go by. She will chase a ball or frisbee yet struggles with the concept of dropping it for another go. Pink is healthy. From time to time, she suffers from the occasional Texas allergy. We find a Cytopoint injection once every 3 months or so is most effective for her. We feed her Science Diet Sensitive Stomach and Skin. We feel that she would thrive in a home where she is the only pet. She will probably do best with a female owner. She can be protective to a fault with the ONE person she bonds with. We have no experience with her around cats but know that she gets crazy when she sees the feral cats that live in the church parking lot next door. She is completely housetrained but it might be necessary to note that we have dog doors that allow her access to the yard 24/7. Pink is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pink, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
