Why do you think pets are important in the lives of people?
Pets offer unmatched companionship. In a world where relationships can be complex and unpredictable, pets give unconditional love and a sense of stability. Their presence can be especially beneficial for those dealing with mental health issues by reducing feelings of loneliness, anxiety and depression. The simple act of caring for a pet can bring a sense of purpose, routine and grounding.
How has your pet (or a previous pet) changed your life?
Becoming an empty nester was a huge transition for me, and I am so grateful that my pets have filled the void of feeling alone. Their presence is helping me navigate this new phase of life.
What motivates you to want to be involved in the future of animal welfare?
Having witnessed firsthand how pets provide companionship, emotional support and stability, I’m driven by a desire to give back to all of the creatures that have brought so much joy and comfort — as they rely on human kindness and responsibility.
