Kaboo Kaboo Kaboo I could say my name 548 times as that’s how many days I have been in foster care!!😯 Oh except I was adopted out for 57 days of that but it was not the right family for me unfortunately. I really need everyone’s Help to find my forever home but it has to be the right fit. My foster home is great but I am past ready to spread my tail fur and begin life with my new furever family. Foster mom says one family is really missing out on a very special guy that just needs a chance. Good thinks will happen♥️. I just have to keep training. Are you looking for a larger size dog say 72 lbs? It’s my ideal weight. I am a male lab mix, already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. I am still young at about 4 1/2 years. It’s important to keep me calm as when I get too excited I sometimes use my mouth or jump up. I did nip once when when I wasn’t receiving my pain meds and now have a BITE HISTORY. To protect everyone including me, I must go to a home where everyone is 18 years old and up. I want to be the boss at times. I do wear a training collar on all my outings which has helped me understand better what is expected of me. As much progress as I have made, I still have not reached my full potential. I will require MANDATORY TRAINING following adoption from a FTH approved trainer who will help us prepare for our wonderful future together! It will mean ongoing work on your part too but it will be worth it 😉. I should mention I had an unfortunate accident up North and broke my pelvis bilaterally. It healed before my travels south here but without vet care up there, it didn’t heal properly. Now I have some damage to my right leg, pelvis and spine. I have some neurological deficits which affects my right rear side mostly. My back leg doesn’t have much feeling from the knee down and it isn’t known if it will return or to what degree. Don’t feel sorry for me though, as I get around just fine. I do have a bit of a hop when I run but, hey, are any of us the same really? I do have pain and arthritis for which I take Metacam once daily. You can get this at the vet and a big bottle lasts about 3 months. It costs roughly $200. I will need this medication for life. I am already crate trained and house trained. Foster mom has spoiled me and put some foam under my blanket to help ease my soar bones. I don’t like it covered as I get too hot. Sometimes foster mom even puts a fan on for me, or I like a/c too! I am quiet and sleep lots in there. I can’t do major hikes, but I can do about 2 km twice a day. I do look forward to getting out there, regardless of the weather. With my training collar on, I walk right beside, once in a while needing a reminder not to go ahead. I ignore all the wildlife, but when I see a dog, I sometimes try to pull towards or bark. It doesn’t last long as I am easily corrected. I have improved a great deal lately. I am looking for a SKILLED LEADER with DOG EXPERIENCE that can help me keep progressing positively. Are you that dedicated family to help me? I do not hate all dogs! Proper introductions are very important for me. I have met some that I get along great with, so it is possible for me to interact with and enjoy their company. I prefer calm dogs in a calm environment. If dogs or situations are stressful, I need a reminder to calm down and refocus. Treats help a lot too, just saying... I do get along with the cat in my foster home. I just ignore him. I sit and wait before I am given the “ok” to eat. This also teaches me patience. As I do have lab in me, I think I am always hungry, so don’t temp me by leaving any food at my level, and remember I am a big dog. You can fill out an application right now at www.findingthemhomes.com and my name again is Kaboo. Please remember to leave my leash on for the first couple of weeks inside and outside so I can learn the boundaries and for my safety.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kaboo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
