My story

Atlas is a gorgeous, sable, male Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd Dog mix. He is 3-4 years old and weighs approximately 60 pounds, but needs to gain 10-15 pounds. He has a moderate energy level and is crate-trained and housebroken. He is good with older kids and other dogs when properly introduced, but he is not good with cats. For more information or to request an adoption application, please email us at adoption.mtgsr@gmail.com ADOPTION: Training (for both the dog AND the family) increases the probability of a successful adoption. We feel strongly that training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership and we now require training for every dog placed through the MTGSR program. The cost of adoption is $500 which includes the $250 adoption fee and a training fee (payable to the trainer) of $250 is due at the time of adoption. For the adoption fee, the dog will be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations, current on heartworm/flea-tick preventatives and microchipped. The training fee will include a plan tailored to that specific dog and that dog's needs (obedience training, behavior modification, etc.) and typically includes three private training sessions. PLEASE NOTE: Our philosophy is “Rescue locally, place locally” which means we primarily pull dogs from shelters in the Nashville area AND we prefer to place our dogs in homes within a one-hour drive of Nashville. If you are outside of the Nashville area, please consider adopting a homeless dog in your local community.
