My story

SPECIAL NEEDS FOR ADOPTION Little Orphan Annie was found as a stray in North Florida looking for food and help behind a bait shop. She had no use of her back legs and not much strength in her front. She basically was dragging herself to safety. She was found on December 21st just shy of a Christmas miracle. The first few days after rescue were touch and go as she was very emaciated and lethargic. She was seen by a local vet and vaccinated, heartworm tested (NEG), and evaluated. Annie appears to have been possibly hit by a car as she has a dislocated hip along with prominent neurological issues. She was 25 lb as a full-grown 3 to 5 year old dog, she was literally skin and bones. Annie did not have enough muscles in her front legs to hold her body up so there was a lot of carrying her around until she built up the strength to use her legs. She is now 35 lb and is getting around using all 4 legs. Annie gets along with other dogs for the most part and she is okay with cats but cannot be 100% trusted. Annie needs a special person who has enough time and patience to deal with her needs. Annie is very loving, affectionate, and likes to tell you how happy she is to see you. She would do best in a home with one other dog that she can play with and a person that she can love on all the time. She does like spending time in her cage just resting and enjoying her new relaxing life where for the first time she is receiving healthy food and lots of affection. The doctor does believe that her dislocated hip can heal on its own without surgery as she may still be too malnourished to be a candidate for anesthesia at this time. Her walking may improve over time but will never be "normal." She often falls when she has no traction so a carpeted home would be better than tile or wood. Her head shake will most likely be there forever. But believe nme she's one of the sweetest dog's you'll ever meet. To adopt this precious soul in need please contact Dr. Erin Holder's mom: maggihall14@gmail.com or 386.717.9991
