Chongie is a yorkie mix who is 5-1/2 years old and weighs a chubby 18 lbs. He is being fostered in Ft. Myers, FL. Chongie’ adoption fee is $295 UPDATED BIO 06/17/2019: Hi everybody – Chongie here. I’m checking in with all my people that may want to adopt me. You already know that I am a great boy. I am quiet, and the only time I may grumble is if you don't throw me the ball. I do require a kong ball and a plush toy. A boy has to have choices because sometimes you feel like a squeak and sometimes you don't. I would like a yard to frolic in but if you don’t have a fenced yard, then a few long walks everyday would be fun, too. My potty habits have improved and I still do have an accident here and there, but I am getting better and better. I enjoy being with my family whether we are playing or just watching TV. Well, that's all for now, folks. You can email my foster mom with any questions and I promise she is going to tell you the same things I did. Oh, and I’m sure she will say lots more sweet things about me. UPDATED BIO 04/13/2019: Hi, it’s Chong here, lovingly called Chongo in my foster home. It's Mr. Chongo in some circles. I am a pretty laid-back fellow. I do love to have a ball or toy to chew on and am playful as well. I like being around my people – a lot. I hang out with the other pups here too. I need to lose some weight so it would be a good idea for me to go on walks 2-3x a day to help me do that. I came into UYR with my buddy Cheech. You may remember that our previous owner dropped us both off in a church parking lot and we were in a crate together. That wasn’t very nice, was it? But we won the lottery since a very nice person found us and got in touch with UYR – and we love our Foster Mom & Dad. I love Cheech very much and it would be awesome to be adopted into the same home with him, but I would also be okay if we went to different forever homes as well. We both kinda do our own thing - he only cares about laying on the couch and watching TV and I love playing. I did have surgery to remove some bladder stones after coming to my foster home, but I am doing great now and feel so much better. I am on a special diet now and need to be on this diet for the rest of my life so that the stones don’t come back. At first, I tried the food that was called pate’ – I think that’s a fancy French word. I didn't like it at all. Foster Mom then tried the beef stew and it was a big winner with me. If you looking for a doggie companion that is game to try new things, then I would be your guy. I am very easy-to-please and even easier to love. Oh, and I sleep in the bed. The big bed that is. Don't worry, I will leave room for you, too. UPDATED BIO 01/19/2019: Chong and his brother Cheech are acclimating nicely to their foster home after being abandoned in a crate dumped in a church parking lot, along with a bag of food. Chong has seen the vet and began the process of updating his vaccinations. Thankfully both dogs are heartworm & fecal negative. Chong does need a dental badly and this will be scheduled soon. Because Chong is a chubby 18 lbs, Foster Mom has him on a weight-reduction diet so that he can be a healthier and happier weight. Stay tuned for more information on both Chong and Cheech as his foster parents get to know them better. PLEASE NOTE: Chong and Cheech are bonded and must be adopted together.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chongie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
