In January 2018, Lola & her 2 sisters were taken from an abusive living situation & relinquished to Animal Outreach Humane Society. They had been neglected & mistreated & eventually abandoned. Lola came to AOS very scared & defensive. She was not able to be pet, picked up, or handled. She is very uneasy around dogs. It seems that one of her abusers was male, and she reacts very negatively when a male is near her. Since AOS has had her, Lola has calmed down. Her foster mom can brush her and pick her up. She has allowed her mom to carry her to look out a window. She doesn’t like to be held for very long, but she has become more cooperative. She likes to have the base of her ears rubbed and a short massage down her back. She loves catnip! She will let you know when she has had enough attention. She hasn’t interacted with other cats but has been in close proximity to them and exhibits signs of not wanting them around. With this in mind, it is recommended that Lola be the only pet in the house. Lola is a cat who has had a very rough beginning in life. She needs a home where there are no dogs or cats and no young children. Teenagers would probably be ok. She would need time to adjust at her own pace and a family who can recognize the signs of her uneasiness. She is very independent and should be given space to just be her own cat.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lola, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
