My story

Well, hello there! My name is Allura, and I'm a drop-dead-gorgeous soft, fluffy chocolate-black Maine Coon/ domestic long hair mix gal with a huge plume of a tail and gigantic amber eyes who was born about June 2018. Even though I was found as a stray in a ghetto apartment complex, I'm sweet and friendly. I love to hang out in my foster meowmy's lap, and when she touches me, I immediately start purring. I was a little bewildered when I found toys in my foster room because as a community cat, I was just trying to survive outdoors. When you're dumpster-diving for your next meal, you have little time to play, if you know what I mean. But now I get the point of toys, and I'm enjoying my catnip mouse especially. I can't tell you how happy I am that my hardscrabble days are behind me and that I can leisurely consume the yummy wet food that my foster meowmy gives me. I'm fine with the cat-friendly resident small dog in my foster home. I haven't been around kids in my foster home yet, but I hide from the other foster cats. Plus I'm afraid of men's deep voices. Just call me an all-round scaredy cat! I may have to learn that I'm not in survival mode any more, so a forever home without other cats and deep-voiced men would probably be best for me. I hope you won't waste time arranging to meet me. A sweet, stunning beauty like me won't last long! Are you surprised that a fluffy chocolate-black cat could be classified as a Maine Coon? If you watch the attached video, you'll learn that Maine Coons come in all colors, from white to black with tabby in between. And please don't be superstitious of black cats! Buster's Friends makes a concerted effort to rescue black cats from shelters because we are five times more likely to be euthanized than any other color of cat. However, many people who have had a black cat before end up adopting another one because we seem to have such wonderful personalities and are emotionally stable and well balanced. Allura is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for her indoor-only home, which needs to be in metro Houston only. No de-clawing permitted. Her adoption fee is $100, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Please click the contact button if you are interested in Allura, and we can let you know exactly where you can meet her. To adopt one of our cats, you must fill out our adoption application and be approved by one of our adoption counselors. To make the process more efficient, submit the online cat adoption application at https://www.bustersfriends.org/cat-adoption-application.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Allura, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
