My story

Poor little Lila was surrendered to a Houston, Texas kill shelter by her owner because they were moving. She was so scared in the shelter and was quickly scheduled for euthanasia because the shelter does not have the time or resources to work with a terrified dog. We saw her on "the list" and immediately sent in a rescue tag. She is 22 pounds and around 1 year old. Lila looks like a Tibetan Terrier. Interesting that Tibetan Terriers are not terriers at all but but a Tsang Apso. She is low to the ground. Lila spent 10 days decompressing at her foster home and in that time has made friends easily with the pack master. It took that long to gain Lila's trust. Lila likes Red Barn bully slices and can be a little pushy if you try to take it away from her. Lila needs a dog knowledgeable home. She is an alpha personality. She loves her people and gets excited to see them. She gets along with dogs her size as long as she can be the boss. Also, we think the best situation for Lila would be a home where this no kid activity or interaction. Most kids do not understand dog territory and we feel it best for Lila to be in a no kid home. The Tibetan Terrier is a medium-size breed of dog that originated in Tibet. Despite its name, it is not a member of the terrier group. The breed was given its English name by European travelers due to its resemblance to known terrier breeds. The Tibetan name for the breed, Tsang Apso, roughly translates to "shaggy or bearded ("apso") dog, from the province of Tsang". Some old travelers' accounts refer to the dog as Dokhi Apso. Lila has eyelashes that all of us ladies wish for and is totally adorable! Lila's adoption fee is $650 (that includes ground transport from Houston, TX to the Seattle, WA area). She has been spayed and fully vaccinated and would love to find a new family that will love her forever. **Lila is currently in her foster home in Houston, Texas.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lila, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
