My story

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter. Auggie, at 7 months old and just about about 13 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 16- 18 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with the great temperament..they rescued Auggie just in time to spare his life. Auggie is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly cute...with adorable black marking on his pure white coat that draw the kind attention of other hikers and walkers. Auggie's foster mom is socializing him to the fun of leash walking on paths with other dogs. He greets the other dogs with a helicopter tail and a big smile. He's not quite as fond of the leash but is learning his skills with yummy treats for encouragement. Auggie is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's also so loving and cuddly...he would be so excited to be a lap dog and cuddle with his favorite people at the end of an active day. He also enjoys his relationship with other dogs and is happy to play and have fun..and then lie in the sun together for a puppy nap. Since Auggie is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Auggie will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that Auggie be given the gift of training and will search for a family that is open to this opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. We're open to Auggie finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Auggie enjoys gentle children as well...we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create a puppy that's fearful of all children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen that's so important to a puppy's development as a well-behaved and very loving adult dog. Auggie will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that Auggie be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Auggie's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Auggie will be arriving on transport in early to mid August (we'll update when a date is confirmed) Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loyal best friend. An app can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Auggie, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Auggie-ADOPTION PENDING, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
