My story

MEET MYA! This little pipsqueak is named Mya! Mya is an 8 year old Shih Tzu who was surrendered to Philly's animal control shelter because her former family ran into troubles with their landlord and wasn't able to keep her. Luckily, she didn't have to spend too long in the shelter before being whisked away to foster care through City of Elderly Love! Mya is a happy little dog whose tail is always wagging and seems to be smiling! She has a zest for life and loves, loves, loves to play! Her favorite being any toy that squeaks. So she may be an older adult dog based on age, but she has the energy and personality of a dog much younger! She's a fun girl who also really enjoys being around other dogs (and is living with another senior Shih Tzu) but that not every other dog appreciates her energy. She'd do well in a home with another playful dog who can also let her know when its time to take a nap. Mya has met cats while in foster care and is respectful of them. Mya had a few accidents while adjusting to her foster home but is otherwise considered housebroken. She may need a little bit of a chance to adjust to her future home as well. Mya does get a bit anxious when left alone and may bark when left alone. She should be crated while you're at work and would also do well in a home with someone who is home often. Mya loves to snuggle, go for walks in the park, games of fetch, and trips to the pet supply store! She doesn't currently live with children but has friendly while meeting them with the rescue. She'd probably do best in a home with older kids due to her energy level. If you're looking for an adult dog with lots of silly energy to offer, Mya is your girl! Mya has been fully vetted since coming to the rescue. She's received blood work and received dental surgery to remove some no-good choppers and to clean the remaining so they're nice and pearly white again. This girl is ready to land her forever home! Mya is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! She is vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She is also heartworm and lymes disease negative. Interested in adopting her? Visit www.cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt MYA!, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
