My story

PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE CONTACTING RESCUE. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! To view video on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet, click on the video icon within Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet. We had Liam DNA tested and he is mainly a Beagle/Parson Russell Terrier mix but down in his line is also Dachshund, Rat Terrier, Harrier, and Fox Hound. Liam weighs about 15-16 lbs. and is between the ages of 2-3. He is a very sweet boy who loves people and also gets along with other dogs, big and small, male and female. I often find him giving me kisses on my legs as I am walking along. He is a sweet dog, a big tail wager, but is also shy and sensitive. He still sometimes goes flat when I am calling him or getting him to comply with directives; this could be due to a shy nature, or, it could be that people in his past treated him harshly; regardless, he is very comfortable around humans, and wants to be around people. (If you are partial to girl dogs, please read my article on my website, “Boys vs. Girls”). Liam currently lives in a small pack of dogs at the rescue’s main house. He is often found sharing pet beds with the other dogs. He loves being in the same room as I am in, and is a chill dog with a reserved nature. I do let him hang out on the human bed with me if I am resting, and he is very good, just lying and being near, but at night time, he sleeps in a wire crate, same as the other rescue dogs (who also eat in crates and are crated when folks are gone from home for short periods). Liam is doing well in his potty habits, and I facilitate regular times out. He is crate-trained and has gotten used to it, no longer objecting when it is time to be crated. He needs a bit more practice on the leash. He has a very slight under-bite, and when he poses for photos, sometimes, one side of his lip raises up! Liam is also super cute! He is slightly on the pudgy side by genetics/breed, and I am mindful to not over-feed him. This just adds to his cuteness! (In some of his photos, Liam is wearing a Coyote (protection) collar, in case you are wondering.) Liam does not show signs of being too playful, or being too interested in toys. There is an interactive play side inside of him that I have seen on a few occasions, that could come out more, given the right playful dogs are in his realm. For now, he is showing himself to be more of a “companion dog.” Liam has occasionally barked but it is not a huge deal. He has not shown any destructive or digging tendencies. He loves his food and does a little dance for his supper. He is basically a happy dog with a very slight issue with separation, (like many dogs) but it is quite manageable. He is safe in his crate when I leave and has gotten quite used to it. Liam is basically an easy-going dog that can fit into different environments. He has no aggressive tendencies. Like most dogs, if people are gone from home for work, they typically appreciate another canine to be their friend. I do not have any information about Liam and cats. I would tend to say that Liam would be happiest if not left alone for long periods daily. Liam is a sweet, gentle, more on the serious side total sweetheart that anybody who adopts him I would consider Lucky. He is a pretty mellow, well-behaved guy! He would make a great dog for someone who wants a really nice, easy companion! NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and an appropriate sized wire crate works very well during a transitional phase. Liam is neutered, fully vaccinated, Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Liam, email Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. In the email, please provide some information about your home, family, other pets, and your dog experience. Please also check your spam folder for an email reply from the rescue. If you wish, please also provide a phone number. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, home-based rescue. We do have a process that involves some dialoging and an application (applications are not online); please be prepared to do this, and you can read about this process on my website: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com (go to the Adoption Tab). We seek stable homes that can provide a life-long, loving environment for the dogs in our care. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue unless you do not receive a response from your email within 24 hours (evening to night emails may get a response the following morning).

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Liam - Gentle sweetheart!, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
