My story

Lilly is a beautiful yorkie sweetheart who is 10 years old and weighs 9.9 pounds. Lovely Lilly is being fostered in Spring Hill, FL. UPDATED BIO 12/12/2019: Sweet Lilly has only been in her foster home for two months. She has become so much a part of her foster family during this time. Lilly loves her foster parents, but is looking for her forever-and-ever home. Lilly has few requirements for her forever home - she has let her foster mom know that she is a perfect little leady and likes her girlie things – like dresses and warm clothes – so she would love to continue to be a well-dressed princess! Lilly has dry eye syndrome (common in older dogs and older humans!) so her forever home must be willing to provide the eye drops she needs for the rest of her life. Lilly’s vision is not affected by this condition. The estimated monthly costs of Lilly’s medications are approximately $75 per month. Her adoptive parents must also provide her with the RX food she needs for life to keep her kidney issues under control. Lilly happily sleeps all night long in her own bed, and her foster mom is very proud of her progress in such a short period of time. Her little back legs are bowed a bit, but this doesn’t stop her from her normal activities. She walks and climb stairs with no issue. She is taking an over-the-counter glucosamine supplement to support the little bit of arthritis she has. She will always need the RX food and the glucosamine supplements for her knees to keep this princess happy and healthy. Lilly is still a bit timid and slow on her walks, but prior to coming into UYR, she was not leash-trained so her adoptive parents will need to encourage her to go on walks which is wonderful exercise and will keep her joints happy. Lilly wears a little bell on her collar so that foster mom is aware of her location. She always wants to be near her person, especially in the kitchen, and it helps foster mom to know where she is. Lilly loves all people and other dogs. She also loves to go on car rides and is a perfect little traveler. She sits up high in her little doggie car seat so that she can see out of all the windows - sweet. Lilly’s foster mom says that she is a very good little girl who loves to lie at her human’s feet or will happily sit on their lap – a perfect little companion. She will snuggle with you, greet you at the door and follow you into the bathroom lol! She is only 10 years old and has many more years of life and love to give to her adoptive parents. UPDATED BIO 10/25/2019: Sweet Lilly has only been in her foster home for a couple of weeks now, and she has been a busy little girlie at the vet’s office. Lilly’s former owner who had her since she was a little puppy went into an assisted living facility, and the family felt that Lilly would be better off with UYR so that we could find her the perfect second home. Lilly has visited the vet several times in the past few weeks, and it has been discovered that she has Grade IV/IV luxating patellas. She is now on a daily tablet which will help with this condition. During her evaluation for surgery, her labs showed that she may have the beginning of kidney disease. This means that Lilly will need to be on medications to aid and support her kidneys and an RX food for kidney health the rest of her life. The vet feels that with this support, she is very adoptable and we already know she is very, very sweet and loving. Lilly returns to the vet in two weeks to have updated labs to ensure that the medications are working correctly. She does have Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), more commonly referred to as dry eye. KCS results most often from an inadequate quantity of tears or a deficient quality of tears. She will need to be on a daily routine of eye drops also for this condition and this will also be for the rest of her life. She is temporarily on medications for skin allergies, and it is hoped that she can be weaned off of this medication since she is getting a healthy premium diet and her skin is looking and feeling much better. Lilly’s current medications and eye drops are costing approximately $50 per month, including the supplements to help her knees feel better. This precious girlie is so worth every penny of this and will reward her owner(s) with dedication, sweetness and loyalty. Oh, and lotsa love! Now for the oh-so-wonderful things about Lilly……she is learning to walk on a leash, although she is not accustomed to loud noises and can startle easily. As she gets used to being outdoors and going on long walks, this reaction should lessen. Due to her previous owner being unable to take Lilly out regularly, her house-training has suffered, but her foster mom is reinforcing that she needs to do her business outside and she is a smart little cookie and will eventually get it. Lilly loves all people and other dogs. She also loves to go on car rides and is a perfect little traveler. She sits up high in her little doggie car seat so that she can see out of all the windows, sweet. Lilly’s foster mom says that she is a very good little girl who loves to lie at her human’s feet or will happily sit on their lap. She is only 10 years old and has many more years of life and love to give to her adoptive parents. NOTE: Lilly can be placed in a home with children over the age of 12 years old.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lilly, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
