LIZZY (Australian Cattle Dog mix) - AVAILABLE!!!!! Only $45 adoption!!! My adoption profiles tend to be long & very detailed. Please read the ENTIRE Adoption Profile (all the way to the FAQ) so you understand everything about this dog & if you are a good match for him her. Lizzy lived with the same woman since she was a puppy. When their Mother got older & could no longer take care of Lizzy, her children brought Lizzy to the Shelter. While at the shelter, she was fearful & avoidant and that landed her on their euthanasia list. That is when Safe Haven stepped in. Here is a video of when I picked her up at the Shelter (that is Mackerel that she is loving...) https://photos.app.goo.gl/7oQweG5R3Ne8mG2t8 Lizzy has a soft demeanor & is such a little sweetheart! PLEASE NOTE: All of the pets at Safe Haven receive basic training when they come here. All adopters will be given a list of words that your new pet knows at the time of adoption. What each pet learns depends on how much time I have had to work with them, & if that pet has any additional issues that need to be focused on first. The pets here are always improving. Birthday: 9/29/11 Weight at last Vet visit: 26 lbs. (she is under weight) Cats: She is very sweet and is good with cats. Small Dogs: She is very sweet and is good small dogs. Large Dogs: She is very sweet and is good with bigger dogs. When she first got here, she was very scared, so I brought out a bigger male to see her reaction, & she perked up when she saw him. He helped me get her to trust me. Kids: Previous owner said she is good with kids, & I can easily see that. She is sweet & mellow. Men: Shy around men she doesn't know, but friendly and loving once she gets to know them. Women: Sweet & loving. Strangers: She can be hesitant at first, but warms up with treats. Since she's so social with the other dogs, I've planned to start taking her to the dog park to get her used to being around strangers, but I have just not had a chance to do it Food: I feed all the dogs on a rotational diet. Which means they get a different brand of high quality food each month. I do this because I do not think that one brand can provide all the nutrients that they need. Just like one food can't provide us with all that we need...Plus, who wants to eat the same thing every day? All dogs are fed breakfast (7 am) & dinner (5 pm), & are fed in their crate with their own bowl. She is free fed (full bowl available all the time) since she came in thin. Plus she gets extra treats like cottage cheese, pumpkin, Mackerel... She doesn't like green beans, but other than that, she's a great eater & has eaten everything I have given her. Crate Trained: Yes, she has not had an accident, and will go in on her own (she knows the schedule). She will also go in when asked. She is let out multiple times throughout the day, and can hold it through the night. She is in a over-sized wire crate. House Trained: Yes, she has done great here & is learning to use the doggy door. She is so sweet, she will stand there and wait for permission to go through it... Leash Trained: Yes, she walks well on the leash. Car: Yes, she rides well in the car. Other issues: I found 2 fatty masses on her (1 on belly & 1 on her leg). These are typically seen in older dogs... Adoption fee is only $45 & includes: - Spay/Neuter surgery - Up to date on Vaccinations - Microchip - Collar - Harness * - Leash - Other surprise goodies from Safe Haven - Free office visit to Vet - 50% off any Optimum Wellness Plan - 30 days of free Pet Insurance - Other coupons from Partners - Available Paperwork: Spay/Neuter records, Vaccination records, Vet records, Micro records, Recommendation list, etc... - Continued Support: Safe Haven will be there for the lifetime of your new adopted pet. If you ever have questions or concerns, we will always be there to help. Our goal is for you & your pet to live happily ever after! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application: http://www.adoptapet.com/Safe-Haven/adoption-application/ After we receive your application, we will contact you through e-mail. Please check your junk filter if it has been more than 2 days. To get status & updates on this dog, follow us on Facebook! You will usually find more pictures & videos of the pets there too! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1405138936478168/ ADOPTING A CAT OR DOG IS UP TO A 20 YEAR COMMITMENT! THEY ARE NOT OBJECTS THAT YOU CAN GET RID OF WHEN THEY BECOME INCONVENIENT. THEY ARE INNOCENT LIVING, BREATHING ANIMALS WITH FEELINGS THAT DEPEND ON YOU TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO TAKE CARE OF, LOVE, & PAY FOR EVERYTHING THIS PET NEEDS FOR UP TO 20 YEARS, THEN PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR AN APPLICATION. * Safe Haven STRONGLY believes that collars should only be used as decoration or to hold the ID tag. If you are trying to restrain your dog, it can easily slip out of a collar. Also, attaching a leash to a collar puts pressure on the neck, which is one of the most sensitive areas of the body, & could hurt them. For these reasons, Safe Haven includes a harness with every dog adoption to ensure the safety of the dog. A harness distributes the weight on the chest & shoulders. It also has a handle on the back that you can grab if need be, without hurting your pet (EX: Dog falls off your boat, just grab the handle & pull your pet back in with no harm done. With a collar, you would have to strangle your dog when pulling your dog in). Also, it is very hard for a dog to slip out of a harness when properly fitted. So it is much easier to restrain them. FAQ: Q: Is this pet still available? A: Status of each pet is posted in the original post on the Facebook page for Safe Haven Animal Rescue of AZ at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1405138936478168/ . It will say the status in ALL CAPS at the very top of the pets post, and updates are posted in the comment section of each pets post. Once on the Facebook page, type the pets name in the search box in the upper right corner to easily pull up all the posts on that pet. Q: Why are your adoption fees so low? A: Safe Haven does things very differently than other rescues do. If you look at our other pets up for adoption, and also our past adoptions, you'll see that ALL our prices are low. We do this because it generates a lot of interest, and gets the pets adopted quickly. The more that get adopted, the more we can rescue. We only deal with pets in danger of being euthanized. The whole point is to save as many lives as possible! We are all about the animals here. And if you want to add a donation to the adoption price to show appreciation for all the hard work we do, then please indicate that in your application! Q: I don't see a phone #. Will someone please call me? A: Everything needed is online. I have found that online is the most efficient way to get all the work done. In the past, when I posted my #, my phone rang off the hook all day. So I spent the whole day on the phone, with not much work to show for it at the end of the day. Again, everything needed is online. Q: How do I adopt this pet? A: Your first step is to fill out an application. http://www.adoptapet.com/Safe-Haven/adoption-application/ Q: Can I adopt if I live out of state? A: Yes, Out of state adoptions are welcome. You have the choice of coming to Litchfield park AZ to meet and adopt, or having the pet transported to you. This also applies if you live farther than an hour away. An additional fee applies if you would like us to transport the pet to you. Fees are $195 for transport + the adoption fee. Fees might be slightly higher for medium and large dogs, depending on the cost of the crate. Fees are not due until transport has been confirmed. All transported pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their vaccinations. They come with with a collar with ID attached, harness and leash, health certificate if required, bowls and food if it is more than a day trip, a voucher for a Free office visit to Vet, 50% off any Optimum Wellness Plan, 30 days of free Pet Insurance, Other coupons from Partners, and all available paperwork: Spay/Neuter records, Vaccination records, Vet records, Micro records, Recommendation list, etc... Q: Where is this pet? A: This pet is being fostered in a private home. Q: I like what you are doing & would like to help. Would you be open to a partnership? A: Absolutely! I am open to anything that helps care for the animals &/or saves more lives! Please e-mail me at Safe_Haven_Animal_Rescue@live.com and give me details about what you have in mind.
