My story

~2-3yr old female Siberian Husky Tiffy found herself very close to the euthanasia list at the Maricopa County Shelter, and was listed as a rescue only pull when we first found her. She is not great with other dogs, and she does have some food possession issues. She also is going to require an adjustment period of a few days for her true colors to shine once she is adopted. We placed her in a home that we thought would be a good fit, and unfortunately Tiffy was very standoffish, even nippy, with her new adopter in the first few hours when the adopter tried to collar and leash her for a walk, and the adopter realized that Tiffy was going to be too much for her. When she does get adopted, her new owner(s) will need to be willing to give her several days to get acclimated and basically just leave her alone until she seeks out attention and affection (which she definitely will once she is comfortable) on her own. She has a lot of potential but absolutely needs an experienced and very patient adopter. We know the right person is out there for her. Once she gets comfortable, she is a sweet, snuggly lovebug with her people. She is very affectionate when it's just you and her, and she would be the perfect dog for someone looking for a one-husky household. She is very energetic and loves to go for walks and to play. When it comes to other dogs, she just really needs her space. She is currently living in a foster home with several other huskies - she is not aggressive to a point we have ever felt like any of the other dogs' lives are in danger, but she does snap and tell them to leave her alone when she wants space, and we really don't think a home with other dogs would be her ideal, best living situation. She does have some food aggression issues that need work as well. She unfortunately did bite someone at one point, which is how she came so close to being put to sleep. We don't have the full story on the circumstances on how this happened or the severity, just that it did happen - she has not bitten a person in her foster home in the last few weeks. The bite incident happened in the days following her spay, so it's possible she was on edge and in pain too.  Please let us know if you think you may be a good fit for Tiffy!: https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tiffy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
