Our Klondike is a very sweet and affectionate little guy. He isn't the bravest of souls when he encounters new people, however, once he gets to know you, he won’t hesitate to let you know exactly what he's thinking! Klondike is a very vocal kitty, who will happily talk with his human, as long as you hold up your end of the conversation! Sometimes, he just has to satisfy the urge to chirp hello! Klondike amuses himself by jumping in and out of boxes, wrestling with his wand toy, chasing balls, and navigating up and down his cat tree. While he’s often energetic, Klondike is also incredibly gentle. When he's tired himself out, Klondike is ready for bed, and where else to sleep, but curled up next to his human! Not a difficult feline to please, Klondike's a happy camper as long as he's having his ears rubbed or his chin scratched. (That's not too much to ask, is it???) We think Klondike will thrive in a calmer home environment, one in which he has either a good amount of human companionship or the companionship of a like-minded kitty. Klondike is “double positive”, which means he is positive for both FeLV and FIV. Cats who test positive for these viruses are not sickly cats! In fact, Klondike is the picture of health! FeLV and FIV are very different viruses, but they are often viewed as one and the same. While FIV positive cats can live long lives, Klondike’s FeLV positive status may shorten his life. FeLV positive cats are at risk of becoming ill if the virus becomes active, but there is no way of knowing if or when this might happen. While FIV positive cats can safely live with FIV negative cats, FeLV positive cats may spread the FeLV virus to other cats. For this reason, Klondike can only live with other FeLV or FeLV/FIV positive cats. We realize that Klondike’s future is more of an unknown. But what we do know is that this sweet, loving cat needs a forever home. Klondike is NOT special needs. But he IS special, and he needs a special person to love and cherish him. Are you that special person? If so, please email info@chicagocatrescue.org or call 773/203-0215. No texts, please. CCR adopts to forever homes in Chicago or the very near suburbs that are within 10 miles of our Chicago foster families. We love our cats and we pledge support for the rest of their lives, which is why our location limits are in place. We appreciate your understanding. If you are outside of these limits, please check petfinder.com, which allows searching by zip code, for cats closer to your home. At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. Generally cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone. Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home. Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, info@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Klondike, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
