My story

Lucie (black) and Sophie (brown/black) are ready to begin looking for a very special forever home. They are 6.5lbs miniature poodles. We estimate that Lucie is 8 years old and Sophie is 6 years old. These girls were surrendered to SOS from a backyard breeder who wanted to downsize their stock. They likely spent their whole lives kenneled and made to have babies. They are unsocialized and timid. Lucie and Sophie have made a lot of progress in foster care. They are housed with adults (men/women), a child, and several other dogs, both large and small. They will follow family members around the home and seem to want affection, especially Lucie. They are still scared when you reach out to pet them and they are TERRIFIED of any and all loud noises. They must he approached gently and calmly. Lucie and Sophie have shown no aggression whatsoever. They are crate trained and have done well with house training, with very rare accidents. Sophie has been spayed and is getting a dental cleaning this month. Lucie has been spayed, had a benign mammary mass removed, and a hernia repaired (the result of too many litters). The veterinarian said that she had a very ugly uterus, again the result of being overbred. Lucie is also getting a dental cleaning this month. We believe that Sophie may be Lucie's daughter. The girls are inseparable and will need to be adopted together. They need a gentle, experienced owner who will continue to teach the girls that not all people are bad. A home with older, dog-savvy children is fine. Applicants must have an outstanding veterinary reference and live in Hampton Roads, VA. If you are interested in adopting, please email is at Sospetrescue@yahoo.com.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucie and Sophie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
