My story

Broomstick A222210 Broomstick is a one year old neutered male who came into the shelter on 10/28/20 as a stray. Handling video: https://youtu.be/K3BtPMx7_KU Broomstick is a champion treat eater! He will do a clean sweep of your entire stash of snacks if allowed. When we approached is kennel, Broomstick was facing the other way in his own world. It took banging on his door to finally get his attention to leash him up. He is a tiny little guy with a fluffy tail. Once outside, Broomy did a lot of attention seeking jumping. He is definitely a puppy that hasn't had much structure. We tried offering him treats in exchange for 4 paws on the ground but he wasn't interested in them one bit. That is odd for a stray or a young dog. Once off leash, Broomstick did some investigating but came back over as soon as we crouched down to his level. He gave us a good once over sniff and allowed handling all over in return. Broomstick was very interested in our treat pouch but still wouldn't take them if offered. It was because he wanted to pick them out himself directly from the source, repeatedly sticking his face all the way in to grab just the right one. He is a character and likes to help himself to treats at his own pace. Broomstick eventually showed off his sit and started gobbling down the entire treat supply. He will need a home dedicated to continued training to work out some of his youthful (sometimes rude) tendencies. Thankfully we know he is food motivated!
