My story

DOB February 7, 2009. Hello, my name is Oscar. I may not have 7 University degrees, but I still manage to look very distinguished in my Black and White Tuxedo. I am a very calm and slow moving old man. I got bad hips, ya know! For short bursts, I do like playing with my foster's hair ties, the green ones are my favourite! I will almost immediately come to you and give you a sniff. I just want to see what you're all about. If you like snuggles on the couch, I'm your man! I prefer sleeping in the space between your legs. I hope you like toasty thighs! Sometimes, I will take a snooze on your chest, that's your chance to slow pet and scratch me around my ears, neck and chin. If you do something I don't like, I'll give you a little nibble. Nothing hard, just enough to let you know to take your hand back and try again! I don't beg for food. You will rarely hear me meow for a meal. I prefer to do a cycle through these three simple steps: sit on your lap, jump down and walk to the kitchen. I rinse and repeat this 2 or 3 times before you say to yourself, "Why does Oscar keep going to the kitchen?" Eventually you'll learn to get it right the first time... If you want to pick me up and take me somewhere, that's great! But I like to be as high up as possible, so I am going to want to climb on to your shoulder. Be careful though, because if you aren't prepared to put me there yourself, I will claw my way up there! Sorry if I scratch you, but I did warn you! I just like the view from up there, it makes me feel more confident. I like to look out the window during the day, please set up a spot that will give me a great view. I will make sure the Amazon delivery guy doesn't chuck your packages on to your porch. I have no loyalty to anyone. I will let anyone (adults only, kids not tested) pick me up and I'll perch myself on their shoulder. If you have any family members or guests come over, I will sit on their laps. I will sit and sleep on anyone, as long as they sit still and have a heartbeat! Note from Oscar's foster family: If you want to adopt Oscar you need to be okay with a few things. -Firstly, he has some odd bathroom habits. Oscar tends to poop outside his box: sometimes he is close to it, but most of the time you will find a poop here and there throughout the floor of your home. On some occasions, he will poop on furniture, in closets, in desk drawers and under beds. He also doesn't like to pee on cat litter... we were having issues with him peeing on soft surfaces (blankets, laundry, bath mat), so we started putting down fabric in his litter box and now he's happily peeing in the box on the fabric. We are planning to try and add litter in there bit by bit to see if we can trick him into peeing on kitty litter instead. -Secondly, he is on a Hill's Prescription Diet Urinary food. The vet recommended this food after his most recent check up. -Lastly, he needs to take supplements for his arthritis, constipation and anxiety. Oscar is the absolute best lap cat I've ever had and I've probably fostered over 50 cats. You will need to be okay with all of his special needs if you are to successfully adopt him. We can chat via e-mail or on the phone so you know exactly what you would be getting yourself into! Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated versus our standard adoption fee of $175.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Oscar, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
