My story

Meet Lil Man Ugey!!! Ugey is very sweet, submissive, reserved when unsure and still very much a puppy. He is trained and can be well-mannered but the joy and love for people cause him so much excitement. All his training is forgotten. Ugey is still becoming who he will be but so far he is amazing with all animals big and small. Kids can work as the little exposure he has had was ok. He did enjoy having playful kiddos. Ugey wants to learn and needs to be guided. He needs security, comfort love, and attention. He wants to experience and figure out what else there is to encounter, learn, enjoy, and new loves to meet. We recently went on an overnight pup date. Here are notes from his stay: Thank you Erin and family for volunteering on a pup date! He loved it. We recently took Ugie for a three-night stay with us. He is a super sweet boy but is timid at first. By the end of his second day with us, he really started warming up to everyone in the house (three of us). He did attach himself to me, not sure if it was because I am a woman or because I was with him the most, but it did take him long to warm up to my husband and my (almost) 7-year-old son. He was very unsure of my son at first, but by his last day with us, he was playing with him. We took him for a couple of walks and he did a lot better than I anticipated. He was unsure, but he never pulled or tried to get away. He was glued to my side the whole time and just took everything in. He had zero reaction to others walking or those with dogs. He actually had zero reaction to dogs barking at him on walks and didn’t react at all to the squirrels and bunnies in our yard. We had a bunny run out about 4 feet in front of us and a squirrel run along our fence top and he didn’t even flinch. He watched them and looked to me like “Did you see that?” but he didn’t chase or bark at them. I think he could do well as an only dog as long as his family goes at his pace and is patient with him, but I also feel he would benefit well from a confident dog in the home who can show him the ropes. He was very unsure of new things and lacks the confidence to try new stuff. He needs either another dog to give him that confidence boost or an owner that is willing to not rush him but also work on building his confidence. He is a 19-month-old puppy so we did have times where he tried to chew on things he shouldn’t, but he was easily redirected to a toy. We had only a couple of piddle accidents, but that was due to being scared. We gave him lots of potty breaks and aside from those situations, three-night didn’t have accidents in the house. He would get playful at times, but really he simply hung out with us. However, he thinks toes are fun little toys. 😂 During the family game night he slept under the table and during movie night he curled up on the ottoman. And he became my shadow, just wanting to be where I was (he was a huge fan of my cooking). Overall he is going to make a great pet for a family. Whether that is a family with kids or even a single person. He really does well I think in any environment as long as he has a family that will be patient with him. Ugio is believed to be a terrier mix. Honestly, who knows what all he is mixed with? What we do know is he's half the weight of his littermates. He's 45 pounds 19 months old. We don't believe he will get much bigger. Ugio is so sweet and is definitely on the calmer side mostly. He loves to be snuggled and loved on. He enjoys car rides and daily walks. He loves playing with other dogs too. He is house and crate trained. He enjoys dog toys, treats, and training sessions. He is almost always found snuggling with someone, a kitty or the grumpy Chihuahua, on top of the Great Dane. Ugie is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Updated: 2/1/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Understanding that continued training is a lifetime commitment, is very important. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. Meet & Greets are a required before proceeding with an adoption. We DO NOT ship any of our pets.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ugio, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
