My story

*Rescue Placement Only* Meet Dexter. Dexter is a 5.5-year-old Retriever mix whose journey has been anything but easy. Despite several placement attempts, this soulful pup has found himself back where he started—waiting patiently at the shelter for a place to truly call home. Dexter can be cautious around new people, but once he trusts you, his gentle and affectionate nature begins to shine. He may have some quirks, but with those who give him time and space, he forms a loyal bond. In fact, he can become so attached that he might guard his person, which is why structure and experience will be key to his success. He does well with other dogs, preferring calm, lower-energy interactions, and has shown to be tolerant and social in dog-to-dog meetups. Dexter also has solid leash skills and knows his basic cues like sit, stay and paw. Dexter is looking for a rescue partner who understands his needs and can help place him in an adult-only home that offers consistency, patient training, and a secure environment.
