Olive is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), female, DOB: 7/14/20. Seeking approval from a gentle touch and soft-spoken words, Olive revels in being close to people and will choose loving interaction with her people over just about any other activity. That’s not to say she doesn’t enjoy playtime and adventurous exploration on her own and with other kittens – she certainly does, and vigorous, sometimes ruff-n-tumble play sessions will need to be a box-checked on her daily activity agenda. With an impish inquisitive side and a love of exploring, she likes to be busy, but she has a definite comfort zone in which she operates, and without a doubt, she will need some time to settle into her new environment and get comfortable before being willing to show the fun-loving, playfully impish side of her personality. With a cuteness-meter off the charts, this adoring and adorable young cat will reveal her precious sweet charm to one-and-all in her spirited play and uninhibited love of affection and praise from her people. Pretty undemanding too, Olive is a calm and quiet cat who is happy just to be in the presence of people and near family activities; she thrives with attention and would love to have a window perch where she can watch the goings on of the household. Olive came to Monroe SPCA as an emergency intake when she was a young kitten, found by a samaritan who found her trying to cross a busy street with no mom in sight. She spent her first few months with Monroe SPCA in a foster home before moving into our shelter. She was treated for fleas, Giardia, Coccidia, and Roundworm while with us. A healthy, happy, and friendly young cat, Olive is looking for a forever family who’s willing to give her the time and attention a young cat needs to grow into a social and confident adult. We recommend a paired-adoption with her kennel mate, Diana, although a pairing with several of our other young cats having compatible personalities and temperament might also be a good fit. Olive is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). She is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and she’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Olive currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption. Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
