Lacey is a great example of why people love Labrador Retrievers..with just a bit of Cattle Dog in the mix. Lacey is a stunning example of this increasingly popular Retriever/Herding Dog mix. This mix is known for their roles as excellent family companions. Labradors have won America's most popular dog breed for the 25th year in a row, (according to the AKC) , and it is easy to see why! If you know a lab, you know how affectionate, fun-loving, and easily trainable these dogs can be. They're right at home playing with the kids or heading out into the woods for a hunting trip. When you combine the wonderful Lab personality with that of a Herding Dog, you get a dog that is very family oriented and always up for activity...it can be frisbee, agility, a long hike or jumping into the water for a swim. At between 1 and 2 years old, Lacey will bring young energy to a home with a bit of wisdom as well. This is such a great age..young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead and old enough to be beyond her babyish behaviors. At just about 39 lbs. Lacey is the perfect size to accompany her family on adventures. It can be a long trail hike or snowshoeing with her family...and then at the end of an active day, Lacey will fit perfectly on the couch (or bed) for some serious snuggling and belly rubs. This super-sweet Lab is a loyal and loving pup who bonds hard with those that are kind and loving to her. Lacey has a kind and very sweet spirit about her that caught the attention of our compassionate Arkansas rescuer. She saved Lacey from euthanasia at a scary high-kill shelter due to lack of space.. and fell in love with her sweetness and kind nature. She knew that this gorgeous Lab mix (her photos definitely don't do her justice! We've requested new photos and will update upon receipt) would be a natural companion for a Colorado family. Lacey's joy at accompanying her people on neighborhood walks and fun hikes would know no bounds. Our rescuer felt that Lacey would be a wonderful gift to a family desiring the friendship of a great dog. Farfel's Rescue feels that Lacey would be a wonderful best friend for active retirees. They tend to spend lots of time with their dogs and really appreciate their companionship. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be an excellent choice for Lacey. We feel that she's too sensitive to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. Older kids that are past the age of tail-pulling or awkward treatment would be perfect to include Lacey in their fun activities. She would be overjoyed with the time spent and togetherness... becoming with time a loyal best friend and a very important member of the family. Older children's participation in virtual or in-person positive reinforcement group training classes is so important in a dog's development. They can be involved in teaching Lacey the skills to be able to accompany her family out in the community with consistently great behavior. We feel so strongly about the importance of a training opportunity for every dog that we're unwilling to adopt Lacey to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. Lacey can be relied on, once confident in her surroundings, to share her love and best behavior with her humans. With a bit of time, she blossoms into a devoted best friend who wants nothing more than to share time, play and learn new skills with a loving and committed family. Lacey will be very in-sync with a family that includes her in dog-friendly adventures, backyard fun, exploring the Colorado mountains or window shopping on Pearl Street to learn her urban skills. A walk around the neighborhood talking with neighbors would would also be a great socialization exercise for this sweet dog. Lacey has a stunning pure-white coat that is consistent with her breed mix. She will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for general longevity and coat care). With this regimen, Lacey's coat will be super-healthy, cottony-soft and shining with good health. Lacey is up to date on her vetting and vaccinations. This is in line with Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed as part of Farfel's involvement in zero population growth in the canine population. Lacey will be arriving on transport on Wednesday 7/14/2021. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet and very loving best friend. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Lacey, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lacey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
