Howlie Mae #8762 is a 5-year-old female Foxhound mix. Her nickname is Mae Mae and she responds to it. She is a sweet and mild-mannered gal. Howlie Mae is good with other dogs and cats and has lived with both, the dogs have been her size and bigger. She has a moderate energy level. She knows the commands sit, stay, paw and lay. Howlie Mae’s favorite activities are nice, slow walks, receiving love, riding in cars and getting treats. She is extremely motivated by food and treats, hence her heft! So deep is her love for people food that she will go to great lengths to steal it, and is quite good at it regardless of where it may be including counters. She has shown mild food aggression with the aforementioned people food treasures she has rightfully stolen, but not with her own dog food. She does have some separation anxiety and anxiety induced by loud noises and thunderstorms; she was living on the BWI flight path. This anxiety can result in getting out of a metal crate. She will excel in a home where the adopter is home most of the time, if not always, and is quiet with no young children. The adopter will be patient and understanding of her needs. She weighs 67 pounds and should lose 5-7 pounds to meet her ideal weight. This pup is microchipped. We believe you can always teach an ‘old’ dog new tricks, so we highly recommend continued obedience training for this smart pup; it stimulates the dog's mind and establishes a good dog/adopter relationship. This pup, like all pups, should be on heartworm preventative; an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If you are interested in adopting this dog, and are already approved to adopt through our organization, please contact dogs@lastchanceanimalrescue.org with the pup’s name and ID number in the subject line. OTHERWISE, please submit an adoption application online: http://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoptus.html E-mail dogs@lastchanceanimalrescue.org with questions.
