My story

Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Could she do well with kids? Bertha would do well in a home with no children.Could she do well with other dogs? No, we believe she would do best as the only dog in the home.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What the volunteers have to say about this animal: Meet Bertha – A Refined Combination of Sass, Snorts, and SnugglesBertha is a 7-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix who’s been winning hearts—and stealing sweet potato treats—since day one. She’s one of our all-time volunteer and staff favorites, and it’s not hard to see why: She’s got attitude, she’s got opinions, and she’s got a sense of humor. She makes us laugh, shake our heads, and fall for her all at once. What to Know About Bertha:- 65 lbs of personality-packed pup- Equal parts short walk fan and long nap queen- Loves plush blankets, squeaky toys, and quality one-on-one time- Best as the only pet in a home with no children- Does not do small talk—she prefers to cut straight to the snuggles (once she decides you`re worth it)She’ll throw herself against you for loves during play, nudge you when she wants attention, and politely push your hand away when she’s done. In short: Our girl Bertie knows what she likes, and she’s not afraid to tell you.Bertha`s Ideal Home:- Quiet and adult-only- Pet-free- Full of snuggly blankets and humans who appreciate a little attitude- Willing to work with her on manners (she knows sit, come, and wait—but will circle back to the mischief if you’re not consistent)She adores people once she’s out of her kennel—and will gladly be your shadow, your couch warmer, and your tug-of-war partner. She just needs someone who understands that her quirks are part of the package and part of the fun.Bertha isn’t trying to please everyone—she’s waiting for her person. Someone who gets that a little nudge, a well-timed snort, or a snuggle on a fuzzy blanket can be the best part of your day.---Condensed staff assessment notes: Bertha walked to the activity room by her collar from her kennel. She did not try to bite the handlers’ hands or clothes, showing more interest in her environment and other dogs. She tolerated body handling but
