LuciI should have a gold star attached to my records at the HSHC! I was born to a stray momma cat at the shelter. I am now 3-years-old and the HSHC refers to me as a BAP (Behavior Approval Process). This means that I have been adopted and returned three times, but it`s important to note that this was never due to my failure as a pet. The BAP is a process where my behavior and needs are carefully assessed to ensure I am placed in a suitable home. However, it was always due to my family deciding they didn`t have time for me, didn`t want to pay for my tummy medication, or they lost interest in me. Is it any wonder I began to show signs of being stressed? I had some tummy trouble, caused mainly by worrying and being anxious. After some testing and medication, I am feeling much better. The interviewer lady (IL) told me I must insist on having a family or even just one person who will provide a stable, consistent, supportive home for the rest of my life. One of my family members stated that I got along perfectly with kids aged 11, 13, and 14. I became the queen of the birthday parties, checking things out and participating in the celebrations. [Kids under 10 are probably too unpredictable for my peace of mind.] My favorite things include squeezy tube treats, scratching posts, robotic mice or laser pointers, ribbon wand toys, and playing hunting games. Because I am an intelligent, high-energy gal, I need regular play sessions with my people several times daily to wear myself out and reduce my stress. My preferred play activity is hunting. Allow me to `catch` the ribbon or mouse toy to satisfy my need to win. When interacting with the IL, I let her give me some pets, but as is my want, I licked her hand and gave her a nibble. She commented on how sleek and shiny my coat was. I am a friendly girl, just a little reserved. I`ve lost some confidence because of being adopted and returned. Once you show me you mean it when you say I`m yours forever, I will be happy to show you all my charms. My new home must give me a slow introduction to the place. A small space (like a bathroom or bedroom) with everything I need will provide me a safe spot to begin transitioning to your schedule and routines. Serious adopters only! 7-1-25
