Trudi is one of the sweetest cats you'll ever meet! She is gentle, calm, loves being brushed, and her favorite activities include bird watching and snuggling purring in her foster mom's lap. *Please see her annual care costs below* Her backstory is a sad one... Trudi was rescued from a sad situation. Her owner died and relatives locked her out of the home. Kind neighbors could hear her meowing outside begging to be let back in. When she was attacked by an animal, they were finally able to catch her and bring her to our rescue's vet for emergency care. While under treatment for her skin wound, the vet discovered she has a heart condition that will need daily medication and monitoring for the rest of her life. She also has residual upper respiratory congestion, so stress and play sessions should be limited. Her adopter will need to continue her cardiac rechecks at a specialist vet every 4-6 months. The good news is that her heart meds come in a tuna flavor that she eats in her food, easy peasy! Once you meet her, you can't help but fall in love and know that she's worth it. You can see more photos and videos of Trudi in her foster home at www.instagram.com/mostlymeowsfosters too! Trudi is 5 years and 3 months old (as of September 2022) and weighs 8 pounds. Because of her heart condition, she needs a low-stress, quieter home ideally with no other cats, lots of lap time, and love. ----- Estimate of Trudi's ANNUAL medical-related expenses: $369 Medication: Benazepril, tuna liquid from Chewy (2 month size $61.50) $186 Fortiflora topping so she eats her meds ($31 box of 30, 1/4 each meal) $519 dry food: Forza10 Renal food, $37 for 4-lb bag. She currently eats 1.8oz daily = 1 bag lasts 26 days = 14 bags a year. Could be switched with vet approval, this is a "A low-protein, low-phosphorous, low-sodium diet that’s appropriate for cats with ... heart problems." $1100 to $1300 Echocardiogram ($550 to 650 each, vet recommended every 4-6 months) ------- Trudi is spayed, FVRCP and Rabies vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, flea treated and FIV/FELV negative.
