My story

Gio is one of those dogs who just makes life feel a little more peaceful. He’s 4 years old, has a gentle soul, and is happiest simply being near his person—whether that’s lounging at your feet, snoozing on a comforter, or flashing his signature upside-down smile from the couch. His world was recently turned upside down when his owner lost housing, but even after weeks of couch-hopping and uncertainty, Gio has stayed friendly, affectionate, and resilient. He`s well-behaved indoors, enjoys car rides, and is always ready for a walk (especially if there might be squirrels involved). Gio`s personality is mellow with just the right dash of goofiness. He’s polite around food, loves his toys (especially squeakers, which he considers a personal challenge), and will reward you with the sweetest kisses for a little attention. While he has a mild temperament overall, he may need some patience settling in, especially if he’s feeling unsure or cornered—but his Doggy Day Out volunteers and shelter friends agree: Gio is an absolute gem. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s already housebroken, affectionate, and easy to love, Gio is ready to be your homebody buddy for life. Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home.
