My story

Latte is a special young dog in search of a special home. He’s a graduate of PACC’s decompression program for shy and fearful dogs and needs a family who understands that he’ll need extra time to feel safe in a new home. Latte has been taken care of by a dedicated group of volunteers that focus on our most fearful pups, and those volunteers are deeply committed to seeing Latte succeed. However, the shelter environment only allows for so much growth, and Latte really needs to continue his journey in a savvy and committed home now. Here’s what a few of Latte’s friends have had to say:“Latte has been continuing to make good progress. He has accepted an occasional walker he didn`t know before, allows her to leash him without trouble, and allows her to touch, scratch and rub him in the field. He was calm and comfortable with her on the way back the last time. With me he is relaxed and happy to see me, leashes easily, is bright and interactive on walks, and shows little fear of things going on around us. I believe he will do well in a patient home.”“Today Latte was the best he has been for me. I had planned on walking Latte and his kennelmate separately, but Latte came to the door and seemed to want to come along. I leashed him and we went to the yard. When I was in the yard Latte stood next to me and took treats from my hand several times. I then got up and just started walking around the yard and he followed behind me and sometimes would walk next to me.”“Excellent session with Latte- he seemed more companionable that usual. Leashed easily and was a happy walker with his kennelmate. They really like one another. For the first time I was able to touch, scratch and pet Latte at sitdown- a big step for him. We all then went on around the big lake and had a nice second sitdown where I was also able to pet him again. Love how he`s progressing.”“Latte`s holdout issue has been touch and he is progressing. A team member who sees him only once a week remarked yesterday how much better he was, and today I was able to give extended touch and cheek/neck/ear scratches in the field, even loose leash, when he has never tolerated touch in the field at all before.”As you can see, Latte is not a dog who will plug seamlessly into any home and be an instant snugglebug. But, he has learned to trust and has a wonderful future in the right home with a family who understands him. Latte shares his kennel with a pal who he loves and takes comfort

If you have any questions or would like to adopt LATTE*, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
