My story

Howard, is a purebred Australian Shepherd, born July of last year. Sadly during his short life he has found himself being re-homed twice and now is looking for his third home….and definitely his forever home! As the story goes, Howard was initially purchased from Petland by one family who apparently had no idea what having a dog meant, particularly the concept of commitment to that dog. So, they gave Howard away to someone who clearly was on overload with several small kids and now a puppy...so they needed to get rid of him too. Howard is less than a year old and has already been re-homed twice and now is in rescue. We are looking for a forever home for Howard, with a family who understands the concept of commitment, and will treat Howard as a valued family member. In spite of his unstable past, Howard is a happy playful pup with plenty of energy. He’s good with other dogs BUT his playmates must be a match to his energy and activity level, otherwise he could be overwhelming! For that same reason, he could be a bit much for small children, but fine with older children. Howard would greatly enjoy a secure fenced yard (above-ground fence). Invisible fencing or boundary training will not work for Howard. To ensure Howard’s success with his new family, we are looking for potential adopters with Aussie experience, who understand the breed and the herding personality. And, a family willing to provide consistency and commitment to working with and taking Howard through training, to ensure he evolves into his best self. Howard is in great health, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, neutered and microchipped.
