My story

We couldn’t bare to see little miss Olivia on the euthanasia list in the shelter. The only reason she was in the list is because of lack of space. Olivia has shown nothing but love to everyone she meets! She’s about 9.5yrs old which is what gives her that sweet little white mustache. We also believe she’s a Schipperke/ Pomeranian mix. Schipperkes are known for their intelligence, and they were even used in 9/11 to help find survivors, because of their small stature they’re were able to fit through all the rubble. Note from foster: "Olivia is the sweetest little girl! All she wants is love and snuggles. She's great on walks and just likes to take her time sniffing the flowers, and she also greets every dog with a wagging tail. At night she sleeps with me in the bed along with my other little chihuahua. She's also doing great with going potty outside. I do take her out often to just ensure that she doesn't have any accidents. Olivia will make a wonderful companion for someone who wants a chill dog." We would love to see Olivia in a home with an older retired person or someone who works from a home-based office, because she is too social a girl to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. Olivia does not require a lot of exercise, but a walk a day would good for this little girl. She doesn't require another dog to be happy if her people are very present and involved, but they would like another k9 companion if possible. As a part of the adoption fee Farfel's will give you a goodie box that consist of a harness, food for the first week, a bag of training treats, dental chews, poop bags, CBD treats, and many handouts to help you with your new pup! The adoption fee also helps us rescue dogs that have illnesses such as heartworm and get them back to full health to be adopted. With any rescue, moving from a shelter to a foster or to an adoptive home can be very confusing. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time would be perfect home for Olivia. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine.  Olivia will also be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. This supports our work and hopes that one day dog overpopulation will become a thing of the past and therefore it will be unnecessary to euthanize a healthy dog. Olivia is coming to CO from Carlsbad NM. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy.
