*** Tammy is in a foster home. ***Tammy #18495: black & white tuxedo, short hair, spayed female, born 4/30/23Cats: possiblyDogs: likely noChildren: adults / gentle tweens+BACKGROUND: Tammy was born in Rescue House foster care and was adopted, but the resident cat bullied her and it didn’t work out. Now grown (though still young!), Tammy has been diagnosed with hyperesthesia, an extreme sensitivity of the skin, which is well-managed with an inexpensive twice-daily medication and prescription diet. With this regimen, she is doing great! PERSONALITY: Playtime is Tammytime! On the agenda? Running laps all over the house, of course, while string wands, pipe cleaners, and cardboard scratchers are popular all day long. As a curious and adventurous kitty, Tammy is known to play behind doors and can accidentally close herself into rooms (so doorstops are a must) and sometimes drops her favorite toys in her water bowl for safekeeping. She has a very sweet nature though is not highly confident; she appreciates daily reassurance that she’s loved and treasures your company while never demanding it. Laptime happens if your legs are out straight for her to stretch out along… you can watch TV together while you stroke her silky fur, and she’ll glance back at you from time to time with such a content look on her face. Tammy LOVES to sleep – and play! – on the bed with you; moving toes under the covers will get tackled. Some playtime before lights out is a good idea, and she also likes a morning workout. She is a fabulous companion!COMPATIBILITY: Tammy can be eager to meet other cats, though any new kitty companion needs to be accepting of her no-boundaries approach to playtime and overall mellow-natured. She also does well as an only cat. She does not have any experience with dogs. Tammy needs a calm and routine-structured home with an observant adopter to help manage her hyperesthesia, so we do not recommend younger kids. In a perfect world, her human would be a work-from-home introvert, though she can manage regular work hours so long as there’s still plenty of quality time together.Tammy is a treasure: a companion kitty who is content when you are showering her with attention and also fine if you need to focus on work or other things for a while. She needs someone to continue her medical care and love her for a lifetime. Will Tammy win your heart?
