My story

Meet Bella aka Bell aka Baby Ghoul. This beautiful girl is 3 years old and is VERY REACTIVE. She is an active and independent dog who thrives with walks, training, and alone time. She prefers to be around younger male dogs. Her best friend is a 2.5 year old, 60lb husky mix that has taught her how to be a better dog, by teaching her to trust humans more and how to play with other dogs. She needs a nonreactive dog companion like her BFF husky, so that she can maintain her confidence with her new family. Want a slow hiking buddy? She LOVES to walk and adventure!!! She also loves spending time in a large fenced yard, exploring and searching for things to eat. Bella is reactive because she has low vision and anxiety. She has been in and out of numerous homes due to her fear response. She is on doggie Prozac and Gabapentin and will need to continue this until her behavioral vet says otherwise. She has also been diagnosed with hip dysplasia, subluxing patella and is on high-quality food and supplements to manage any symptoms. Bella has spent five weeks at Paws and Play Training program and Beginner 6 week training through Pet Smart with her current foster family. She has come a long way but still wants her space and not to be touched. However, after training and now that we know her much better, we know that her special person is out there. A home without any children and active humans would be best. It took her foster dad 6 months to be able to pet her for more than 2 seconds without her reactivating negatively and that is still only when she is in the mood for it. Foster mom has been working with her and has gained her trust as much as possible but has been bitten a lot in the process. She may sit on your lap but does not want to be pet. She wants to be social and experience new things, just on her own terms. Bella would not work as an emotional support dog; she needs an emotional support human who will advocate for her and give her the space she needs to navigate the world. Does it sound like she could be the girl for you? Please apply, and we’d love for you to meet this special girl but there are rules to meeting her (for your safety) and if not followed we cannot continue with the adoption. foster/SS 03/25/25, 07/18/25

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bella Alexandria, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
