My story

Meet Geraldine aka Geri! This doe-eyed diva is part cat, part songbird, and 100% unique. She loves people and will chirp at you constantly to remind you that attention is due (spoiler: it’s always due). She’s a total people-cat—affectionate, curious, and always ready to greet you at the door and drop a toy at your feet for a game of fetch. Yes, fetch. You’ve never met a cat like her. Geraldine was born with swimmer syndrome, which affects her back limbs, and later had a leg injury that required amputation. That leaves her with one fabulous back leg that sometimes flops around like it’s had a long day—but don’t let that fool you. She zips around the house, hops up onto furniture, scales cat trees, and zooms like a furry little racecar when the toys come out. She’s living proof that two mighty front legs and a wobbly third still equal plenty of cat. When it comes to other animals, Geraldine prefers a no-roommate policy. She isn’t a fan of other cats, and while she might tolerate a mellow kitten, she’s made it clear she’d rather have all the human attention to herself. She hasn’t met dogs, but based on her spicy attitude around other animals, we don’t think canine roommates would be her vibe either. Part of this is likely because of her small size and physical limitations—Geri is a very confident little lady who sets her own boundaries. Despite her sass, Geraldine is deeply affectionate with people. She loves company, rolls over for honest-to-goodness belly rubs, and wants nothing more than to be your shadow, your playmate, and your snuggle buddy. She’s endlessly entertaining and full of personality—equal parts tender and tenacious. She does have a few special needs: a large, open litter box setup with some pee pads around the edges maximizes her ability to be stable and clean when using the bathroom. Geri LOVES to lounge and is very happy in cat beds, soft blankets, and plush surfaces. Geri also benefits from a biweekly wipedown to help keep her coat and floppy back leg clean! She gets prescription food (Purina UR St/Ox Urinary dry and wet food) to help support her urinary tract health since she is prone to urinary tract infections and takes a joint supplement daily—all of which she gobbles up happily. Geraldine is a total gem: goofy, loving, and unforgettable. She’s looking for a human who sees her quirks as the superpowers they are. If you're ready to be loved by a chirping, fetching, three-legged wonder, apply to meet Geraldine today. She can’t wait to meet you (and your toy stash).

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Geraldine, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
